A few weeks ago in my Pastor’s Pen called “ A Recipe for Evil” we took a brief look at the Holocaust and how and why it came to be. On January 22, the 46th anniversary of the Roe vs Wade decision, the NY Senate and Assembly passed the bill to “protect” a woman’s “Right” to an abortion to the time of childbirth. Shortly after this, the Governor of Virginia, Ralph Northam, publicly endorsed the killing of newborn babies (infanticide), when he said that the Doctors would first deliver the Baby, resuscitate if necessary and then make a decision. Of course, most recently the US Senate rejected the “Born Alive Abortion Survivors Act” which would have protected the life of an aborted child that had survived the abortion. Yes, in the event that the child was born and was still alive then the bill would have required the Doctor to care for that child just like any other child. Not just leave it on a table to die. The sad reality is, by definition, in the culture that many have embraced in this nation, a child is not a child unless it is wanted. I understand women’s rights and a woman’s right concerning her own body, but where does this end? If a woman is still breast feeding a child when it is 3 months old and she realizes that caring for a child is simply causing her too much emotional stress, does she still have the right to “allow it to die” by simply withholding care? Or, if a child is discovered to have some “defect” is it ok for doctors to go ahead and end it’s life at this point? The sad reality is, even if it were allowed, there would be those who would advocate for killing children that were 6 months old, or even a year old. Of course, it does not end there, there is also the killing of the “old” and the “sick”, but that is a conversation for another date.
Ironically, there is a new movie coming out and from what I have read it has no nudity, no sex and not even any profanity and yet it has been given an R rating by the MPAA. The reason for the rating is “violence”. Yes, the film depicts the violent nature of abortion. It is called “Unplanned” and will be in theaters this March 29th. Pray that God will use this film to open the eyes of many.
